Live Light in 25 Words- Day 11. “What will You Take into Eternity?”

“For even the Son of Man did not come to be served, but to serve and to give His life as a ransom for many”. Mark 10:45
Q. What radical characteristic of leadership does Jesus model for us here?
How will you imitate Him ?
Sacrificing ones life is as about as radical as it gets and the idea of being a servant to others is not something modern society accepts with open arms. It’s just not the done thing, you look out for number one first and foremost.
In our culture, in this time there aren’t too many, if any that have given up their life for their faith. We hear about it happening usually on far and distant shores.
So, how do we imitate Him? Serving is something we can all do and are all capable of. I think I see serving in a slightly different light to its conventional connotation. Yes, it is about putting others needs ahead of your own, looking out for one-another, doing stuff. But I also see it as a relational thing. We can be busy doing stuff as much as we want, but if we do not take the time to develop true and real relationship with those around us , what do we really have, what have we accomplished? In the end, the only aspect of our lives that we will take into eternity is our relationships. Stuff won’t be coming with us, hopefully the people we have touched, who have seen Jesus in us, because we took the time to be genuinely relational , will meet with us in eternity. We can strive in all manner of endeavours here in this life and that’s ok, but if we do it at the expense of what is truly important, then where does that leave us?
“Where ever your treasure is, there your heart and thoughts will be also” Matthew 6:21
I want my treasure to be the relationship I build with Jesus and with people. Because when its all said and done, it’s the only thing that really matters.
