” But the Counselor, The Holy Spirit, whom the Father will send in my name , will teach you all things and remind you of everything I have said to you. ” John 14:26
Q. What is the role of The Holy Spirit in your life ?
I love that The Holy Spirit is referred to as The Counselor, that he will give us counsel. What does this mean? He has the authority to give guidance, advise and help, to lead us into all knowledge of everything concerning Jesus and our lives lived in Him.
” And the Spirit of The LORD will rest on him- the Spirit of wisdom and understanding, the Spirit of counsel and might, the Spirit of knowledge and fear of The LORD.” Isaiah 11:2
How fitting that He is also called the comforter. What an incredible thing to be able to rest in the knowledge that we have with us , every day Gods’ spirit to guide , teach , and reassure us .
I still remember vividly the day that this became a reality for me. I knew of The Holt Spirit , but coming from an extremely conservative church background , I didn’t truly understand , or KNOW Him and how He wanted to be an integral part of my life.
My husband and I had been going through some difficult times and we were experiencing an rather severe spiritual attack on our home and family. We sought counselling through a well known and respected Pastor and his wife. During our sessions , after getting to know us and our story, the Pastor asked us if we would truly like to know the Holy Spirit and have Him live within us.
” ………But you know Him , because He lives with you now and later will be in you .” John 14:17
We said yes and they laid hands on us and prayed a simple prayer. The earth didn’t move, nor did we break out in an unknown tongue, but…… We did leave that session feeling different. An overwhelming sense of peace and desire for more of Jesus and His word had washed over both of us, as soon as we arrived home I opened my Bible to John 14. It was as though the pages were alive , the words jumping out to meet me and a new understanding began to unfold..” He will teach you all things ” Our desire to worship intensified in a new, passionate and abandoned way, which was at odds with all that we were used to but we stepped out and followed The Holy Spirits leading. And what a journey it has been……and it continues.
He will stretch you , take you out of your comfort zones, reveal truths that you were once blind to , He will break your heart for what breaks His and place a new song within you , and He will give you PEACE.
” And I will ask the Father, and he will give you another Counselor , who will NEVER leave you. He is the Holy Spirit, who leads into all truth. The world at large cannot receive him, because it isn’t looking for him and doesn’t recognise him. But you do……..” John 14:16-17

Your words are very moving and full of light and of His love! That was a wonderful step that you and your husband shared together, i can see the refection of the spirits power within your words, it reflects your heart beautifully! I find the spirit will teach you, lead you, make you more sharing and caring in ways you have never felt or known before. The world lies before us and when you share His love there will be many who will share His love back with you and surprise you where the hugs come from. Love the Lord your God with all your heart and soul, and love your brothers and sister as yourselves and you will grow greatly and mature in the sweet bliss of God. I enjoy the spirit of your words…God bless! Here is a poem for You and your husband to share, may it strenthen you always,
“The Oneness of Love”
When I write of you,
and my love for you,
I also write of God…
For I know He loves me
through the love
you give to me each day.
Through you I feel the
warmth and tenderness
of heaven, and it is so real.
With you I feel His touch,
when you touch me
with your hands.
And when I hold you,
I know that God holds
me so very near…also.
And the times I hear your
voice, it reminds me of
the quiet times when
when I talk to God…
For when I think of God
I see your love, and when
I think of you, I see the love
of God.
And it shows me that
our love is so blessed,
and so very complete
when we are equally
…one.

Absolutely! But to receive counsel, we must develop a relationship with Him first…otherwise we could miss it!
