” All of you will desert me,” Jesus told them.
” For the scriptures say, ‘God will strike the Shepard , and the sheep will be scattered’. But after I am raised from the dead, I will go ahead of you to Galilee and meet you there.” Mark 14:27-28
Q. How do the words of Zechariah the prophet come true? ( Zechariah 13:4-9) What can scare us away from following Jesus?
Imagine being in a situation where you were about to embark on an incredibly difficult undertaking, knowing that all your companions, friends, were going to desert you. Jesus knew that His disciples were going to scatter, abandon and deny Him when He needed them most. That His closet friend would choose to follow the crowd and declare not to have known Him so as to avoid persecution and embarrassment.
It’s hard to be different , it takes a lot of courage to choose an opposing path to the majority. We fear rejection and isolation if we don’t subscribe to the values and views of the societies in which we live. In choosing to follow Jesus we may be marginalised and ridiculed, but He has conquered that battle for us.
‘I know very well how foolish the message of the cross sounds to those on the road to destruction ‘ 1Corinthians 1:18
He understands that we will be considered foolish by others……….
‘ Instead, God deliberately chose things the world considers foolish in order to shame those who think they are wise. And He chose those who are powerless to shame those who are powerful. God chose things despised by the world, things counted as nothing at all, and used them to bring to nothing what the world considers important, so that no one can ever boast in the presence of God.’ 1Corinthians 1:27-29
We need never fear that we will be left out in the cold , alone. For we have this promise……
” I will never leave you, I will never forsake you.” That is why we can say with confidence, ” The Lord is my helper, so I will not be afraid . What can mere mortals do to me ?” Hebrews 13:5-6
If we go on ahead, step out in faith and be prepared to risk the mockery of others…….He will meet us there.

Walk Towards Easter. 9.
When they arrived back in Jerusalem, Jesus entered the Temple and began to drive out the merchants and their customers. He knocked over the tables of the money changers and the stalls of those selling doves, and He stopped everyone from bringing in merchandise. Mark 11:15-16
Q. What offended Jesus? How might you offend Jesus?
” My Temple will be called a place of prayer for all nations, but you have turned it into a den of thieves.” Mark 11:17
Why was Jesus so angry? It wasn’t simply the fact that they had turned the Temple into a market place, that was bad enough. He refers to it as a den of thieves. The merchants were profiteering from the people, they were dishonestly trading. In other words, they were ripping their customers off ! This was supposed to be a place where worshipers came to worship, seek God , pray and learn His ways. To fellowship with one another, a place where all should be treated with love and respect.
Could it be that in our own places of worship we offend Jesus? Are we dishonest, do we miss represent Him? Do we really love , do we really forgive, do we serve for His purpose or our own gain? Do we walk our talk?
Jesus wants us to be authentic, the real deal. No showmanship , just raw honesty and a genuine love.
A place of prayer for all………let us be the ones to welcome all who enter into His House with a sincere and earnest representation of Jesus……Love.

Walk Towards Easter. 5
” When we get to Jerusalem ,” he told them, ” the Son of Man will be betrayed to the leading priests and the teachers of religious law. They will sentence him to die and hand him over to the Romans. They will mock him, spit on him, beat him with their whips, and kill him, but after three days he will rise again.”
Mark 10:33-34
Q. What do you learn about Jesus’ intentions and what surprises you about His plans?
No way…….can’t do it! I’m fairly certain that would be the initial reaction from the majority if asked to undertake a task that would require public humiliation, excruciating pain and imminent death. The fact that your life would be restored at the conclusion of the preceding events becomes lost in the preoccupation of what must be endured. I cannot imagine the inner turmoil and angst one would experience choosing to accept such a task.
But Jesus said ” Yes…..I’ll do it!” He knew exactly how events were to play out. He knew the path He was about to follow, He understood all that was in store, He knew the suffering that was at hand, and still He said yes. We know that He struggled with the knowledge of what He must go through as He prayed in the Garden of Gethsemane.
Mark 14:33-36 He took Peter, James and John with him, and he began to be filled with horror and deep distress. He told them, ” My soul is crushed with grief to the point of death. Stay with me.” He went a little farther and fell face down on the ground. He prayed that, if it were possible, the awful hour awaiting him might pass him by. ” Abba, Father,” he said, ” everything is possible for you. Please take this cup of suffering away from me. Yet I want your will, not mine.”
Three times He went away and pleaded with His Father, three times!
I’m finding it incredibly difficult to wrap my thoughts around this profoundly moving scene. The enormity of what Jesus endured for me is overwhelming. And still amidst all that torment he said, ” Not my will, but yours .” He saw the bigger picture, the prize at the end…….You and I……. His feet were steadfast as He was secure in the knowledge that His Father would carry Him through.
Is there a challenge in your life, something you have been confronted with and you’ve answered, ” No way, can’t do it . ” Are you afraid to face the pain of the process ? It’s okay to be anxious , Jesus has been there and conquered more than we could ever dream of and He is waiting to give you strength and carry you through.
For I can do EVERYTHING with the help of Christ who gives me the strength I need. Philippians 4:13
He is waiting and He won’t let you down.
Therefore, we who have fled to Him for refuge can take new courage, for we can hold onto His promise with confidence. This confidence is like a strong and trustworthy anchor for our souls…… Hebrews 6:18-19

Walk towards Easter Series 1

He said to them, ” Let the children come to me. Don’t stop them ! For the Kingdom of God belongs to such as these . I assure you, anyone who doesn’t have their kind of faith will never get into the Kingdom of God. ”
Mark 10: 14-15
Q. What is Jesus teaching us here and what does childlike faith look like in you?
When my girls were little I would often wonder at their innocence and simplistic reasoning and understanding. At the way in which their little yet to be influenced minds so readily accepted experiences, people and difference. As I waded through the daily myriad of questions, I found a simple, reasonable, logical answer was usually adequate. Rarely was it necessary to delve into the finer more intricate details. They placed their trust in me and stepped out upon it, learning along the way.
Jesus scolded the apostles for trying to keep the children from Him. Could it be that He was trying to say, ” Hey guys, you need to be kids again, think like you did back then! ”
But why would He want us to be like children ?….” Unless you have a faith like theirs!”
Children are drawn to Jesus, they don’t need to know all the finer details of doctrine or have the answers to life’s most perplexing questions. They are satisfied with ” Jesus loves me , this I know, for the bible tells me so…”
As a child runs towards a parent and leaps into their outstretched arms, knowing, trusting and not questioning that they will be caught, so Jesus desires for us to step into His arms. To have faith first, not knowing the details but trusting that understanding and teaching will follow. Our grown-up minds can be so limiting .Everything must have a definitive answer before we are able to accept it. Does it fit into our box of understanding , we see only what we think we know and filter everything through that knowledge .
” I know very well how foolish the message of the cross sounds to those who are on the road to destruction. But we who are being saved recognise this message as the very power of God. As the scriptures say, ” I will destroy human wisdom and discard their most brilliant ideas ” So where does this leave the philosophers, the scholars, and the worlds brilliant debaters? God has made them look foolish and shown their wisdom to be useless nonsense. Since God in His wisdom saw to it that the world would never find Him through human wisdom…….” 1Corinthians 1:18-21 NLT
Rewind, be a kid again, grasp hold of a child like faith, take the chance and step out without all the answers. He will reveal the details, but first we must have faith like theirs.

For in Him we LIVE and MOVE and EXIST. Acts 17:28image
I read this verse about a week ago and I just cannot seem to move on from it. Random moments of thought take me to it, burning it into my memory. ‘Tis only a short verse, but these words hold within the essence of life itself……the aroma of our being.
………For in Him…….
We LIVE…..Have life, continue to be alive and subsist
We MOVE……Progress, change and take action, dwell in our environment
We EXIST…… Have life and vitality, have being and be.
Such knowledge is too wonderful for me, too great for me to know ! Psalm 139:6
To live out each day, to know that I know that I know………
I Move, I Live, I Exist in Him.
Night and day difference
A metamorphosis in living life……
So we fix our eyes not on what is seen, but on what is unseen, since what is seen is temporary, but what is unseen is eternal. 2 Corinthians 4:18
