Do not merely listen to the word, and so deceive yourselves. Do what it says…
“Faith, by itself, if not accompanied by action, is dead.”
James 1:22-25, 2:17
Does your faith have feet and what kind of shoes are you wearing ?
Shoes……….. I love shoes. To be honest they are one of my weaknesses. I find it hard to pass up a good shoe bargain, because every girl knows you can’t have too many pairs of shoes , right ! Subsequently there are shoes for all occasions, style , colour, and practicality are taken into consideration when making a purchase and every so often comfort is forfeited simply for appearance.
Shoes are made to be worn. They don’t sit on a shelf as decor, they are not the topic of conversation only to be hidden away in their box in the closet, never seeing the light of day. They have a purpose and a specific function. What’s the point of having shoes if we don’t actually wear them ?
In reality we can be excessive, but we can never have too many pairs of shoes to put on our feet of faith.
God is very clear……Don’t just listen……Do !
Work Boots for the tough and gritty, runners for the long hauls, gumboots for mud and storms, hikers for arduous terrain, slippers to walk softly and gently, thongs when things get hot, sandals in times of comfort and heels to carry beauty.
We have been chosen …..” God’s instruments to do His work and speak out for Him… ” 1 Peter 2:9-10 ( MSG )
I don’t know about you, but I certainly don’t want to be deceived or living a dead faith ! We need to be prepared every day to slip into whatever type of shoe is needed to DO His work.
Raid your closet and drag out those shoes you have tucked away. WEAR them, wear them until you cannot wear them anymore! There is no shortage of size or availability in Gods shoe store, and they are free, because He will always give us what we need to do His work.
” How beautiful on the mountains are the feet of those who bring the good news of peace and salvation…..” Isaiah 52:7
Putting feet on our faith is not an option. God does not give us shoes just in case we may need them or feel like wearing them. He intends for us wear them out. Don’t be concerned if the fit doesn’t feel quite right, or is a little uncomfortable at first, they have to be worn in. God does not fit shoes incorrectly. He knows exactly what size we need, and what style is required.
It’s time to have beautiful feet !
” Just as the body is dead without breath, so also faith is dead without good works.” James 2:26
Q. How important do you think it is that a Christian shows what they believe by the way they act ?
This would have to be on the top of the list. People don’t always listen to what you say but they do however watch what you do and how you behave, especially if you are flying the Christian flag. We are supposed to be Christ’s representatives , it’s no good parading around sprouting about His love and acceptance if we are not behaving in that manner ourselves. Our actions will always speak louder than our words.
I like to call it ” Putting feet on Faith ” it’s not about going to church meetings and busying ourselves with ” programmes “, its about being the hands and feet of Jesus. Jesus walked His faith, talked His faith, lived His faith in everyday life. We should be known as people of integrity, people who go above and beyond for our fellow man.
” Faith is dead without good works” let us be mindful that when we put feet on our faith our works are to serve others, to be an example of Him, not to earn us any accolades or to make us right with God.
” How beautiful on the mountains are the feet of those who bring good news of peace and salvation….” Isaiah 52:7
Let’s be a people of beauty, in the way that we live, in how we speak and act, in how we treat one another, so that the feet on our faith will lead straight to Jesus.
